Lent Day 43

Lent Day 43 - A prayer from a friend

Isaiah 53:6
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Lord. I’d got to this stage in Lenten reflections expecting things to be rising to some climax as we anticipated Easter. Instead, I’m tired, and feeling somewhat down. Lord have mercy on me. I cannot through my own efforts or discipline draw near to you or become more holy. I just need you and, at this moment, feel farther than I think I ought to.

We’ve been reflecting on Psalm 23 and on all the aspects of You being our great good shepherd and now despite all this Isaiah 53:6 reminds us that, like sheep, we still all manage to go astray. BUT.. You have laid on Jesus ALL of our iniquities and He has become for us our sacrificial lamb. You have provided for us deliverance, freedom, forgiveness and release. We don’t deserve this but Your grace is sufficient.

Thank You Lord, for this reminder. Amen
