Lent Day 8

He leads me in paths of righteousness…

God is righteous in all His ways and He intends that we His flock walk in righteousness too. It follows that as this is His intention and desire that it is possible for us to be righteous.  So why do we end up off the path of righteousness and how do we stay on track?

Perhaps it’s simply that we choose to or we become careless. In both cases we need to look to the Good Shepherd to help lead us back on the right paths that lead to life. This might mean change.

Sheep are creatures of habit and need careful handling and direction. If left to their own ways they will follow the same trails that eventually become ruts. They will graze the same areas until the grass is weakened and provides poor nourishment and their health is affected. This is why a good shepherd will keep his sheep on the move.

Consider these words;
“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day” Proverbs 4:18
