Learning to pray the way Jesus did; when prayer becomes as natural as breathing
Stormont Prayer
1 Timothy 2 v 1 - 3 urges us:
"... first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may lead peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good and pleases God…"
Although many have prayed faithfully over the years for our government and politicians, and continue to do so, there had been very limited prayer opportunities inside Stormont Buildings. In December 2003 Lord John Alderdice gave Transformations Ireland the opportunity to gather people from across different denominations to pray in the Senate Room in Stormont. This has developed over the years into bimonthly prayer meetings, initially sponsored by Lord Alderdice, then by Dr Esmond Bernie and more recently by Naomi Long MLA.
The focus of these prayer meetings has been to pray for our politicians as leaders, but also as men and women with needs like everybody else. Our primary desire has been to see God's Kingdom come and His will done and so we have prayed without any political bias or agenda. We have frequently found ourselves gathered together from right across our province at very significant and critical times and have been privileged on these occasions to be able to join in united prayer for the situations.
Obviously, there is a security implication to meeting at Stormont and so the meetings have had to be by invitation. However, if you would like to find out more, further information is available from info@transformations-ireland.org.
Pray for Our Politicians
As 1 Timothy 2 urges us it is important that we pray for our leaders. So why not support the assembly members that represent your area on a regular basis. Regardless of their party, political stance or religion they need your support through prayer.
Click here for the constituency map and then click on the relevant area of the map to view your assembly representatives.
